ECTI Workshop: “How to write a journal extended from conference paper”

1. Aim
As a common practice, researchers first publish some portions of a novel theory or technique in an international conference. After expanding their contribution either by formulating a mathematical solution, gathering more experimental results or optimizing their experimental parameters, researchers would then try to publish their extended work in an international journal. Their expanded work would consist of more theoretical or technical explanations, more experimental result and more discussion/conclusion than their conference published version. Although both papers are written by the same researcher(s), the journal paper may be found in violation with the publisher’s (self-copy) plagiarism principles by not delineating sufficiently from their own work in conference paper. In order to prevent submission rejection arising from such cause, this workshop aims to teach journal technical writing which is an extension of published conference papers.
